Antigone, the most tragic and noble of princesses. In true Sophocles form, his heroes try to reconcile duty with the laws of the land, and lose. Antigone observes the unwritten laws of the gods to her detriment; but in doing so, she emerges as an eternal symbol of female determination and nobility.
